Underhill Marine Services are specialists in onsite surface preparation & coating techniques and with our fleet of vehicles and equipment we are able to service across the South West of England. Our services provide a complete service to ensure the integrity of your structure. As specialists and industry leaders in on-site operations in the areas of grit blasting, protective coating application and industrial painting, we work across a wide spectrum of sectors.
Our accreditations in safety, quality and the environment ensure your structure is serviced to the highest industry standards. Our services team will develop a project plan to ensure the impact to your facility is minimised whilst ensuring all of your safety requirements are met.
Depending on the project, we can setup Traffic Control, Scaffolding & Enclosures; we will remove the existing surface from your structures using abrasive blasting or Ultra-high pressure water jetting and carrying out any remedial work required, including steel repairs and resurface using a long-lasting surface coating.
Underhill has two surface preparation booths to avoid cross-contamination of blast media. One dedicated shot-blast booth and a secondary abrasion unit for other forms of blasting.
Blast media is cleaned and recycled by our automated under floor grit recovery system to minimise media losses. This process enables us to reduce waste and in turn minimise overall costs and benefit the environment.
From our Plymouth-based facility, we offer Our Shot Blasting (cleaned to SA 2.5 or SA 3), Mechanical preparation (paint abrasion to ST3) & High Pressure & Ultra High Pressure Water Blasting
ICATS trained, our Site operatives can be trusted to deliver to the same quality standards that our in-house facility operates to. With a portable tent, our on-site abrasion operatives are suitably qualified and experienced to carry-out multiple techniques.
Our On-Site operation offers Shot Blasting, Mechanical Paint Abrasion & HP & UHP Water Blasting – a dust free solution .
Our facility specialises in Aluminium and Zinc arc spraying – as preferred by most industries that are associated with hostile environments. Zinc metal spraying provides a long life coating of 20-30 years, whilst Aluminium spray will give a superior finish to zinc in sea and saline conditions.
Our metallisation process is completed in-house by certified operatives. In addition, when the scope deviates from our normal operating procedures, we seek advice from our external metallisation experts, enabling Underhill to deliver the most complex of corrosion protection solutions. Our equipment is supported with various DFT thickness gauges and deflected spray extension to ensure a smooth application which meets industry and customer-specific requirements.
One of the more common forms of corrosion protection, galvanisation is the process of coating iron and steel with a layer of zinc by immersing the metal in a bath of molten zinc at a temperature of around 450°C.
Underhill works with a certified partner to ensure all galvanised steelwork is produced to British Standards whether double or vertical dipped. The benefits of galvanised steel include: a durable permanently bonded tough coat, an easy to clean surface & an extended life-span (50 years).
Our Underhill Industrial Coatings Divison have a reputation for quality & value is unrivalled and our ability to complete projects on time, on specification and all with a highly competitive pricing structure make us the first choice for industry and government sectors across the South West.
